Author Guidelines

Submissions are also accepted by e-mail (etkijournal@gmail.com).

Before submitting to ETKİ: Journal of Literature, Theatre and Culture Studies, please ensure your manuscript meets the following criteria. Non-compliance may result in rejection.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Length: Research papers 5,000–8,000 words; book reviews 1,500–2,000 words (excluding abstract, keywords, bio-note, and works cited).

  • Structure: Include Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text, and Works Cited in one file. Do not include author names in the text or metadata.

  • Quotations: Use double quotation marks (“ ”) for all in-text quotes. Quotes longer than four lines should be in a separate, left-indented paragraph (0.5 inch).

  • Language: Non-English or native-language terms must have explanatory footnotes.

  • Bio-note: Short professional note (no publication list).

  • Citation Style: MLA 8th edition for all citations and references.

Language and Editing

Manuscripts must be written in clear, error-free English. Authors may use non-profit editing services if needed.
Note: Editing assistance does not affect editorial decisions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Confirm that your submission meets all of the following:

  • MLA 8th edition style followed

  • Word count within limits (5,000–8,000 / 1,500–2,000)

  • Quotes use double quotation marks; block quotes indented

  • File includes Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text, Works Cited

  • No author name in the file or metadata

  • Non-English terms footnoted with explanation

  • Unpublished and not under review elsewhere

  • Proofread for grammar and clarity

  •  All co-author emails and bios provided

  •  I understand that plagiarized or pre-published works will be rejected
