Kökler Üzerine Bir Performans Denemesi[An Experimental Performance about the Origins: Before I]

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, tiyatro yönetmeni ve teorisyeni Jerzy
Grotowski’nin “Sen Birinin Oğlusun” makalesinden esinlenerek
kurgulanmış, 2016-2017 ve 2017-2018 tiyatro sezonlarında
Ankara’daki çeşitli sahnelerde gerçekleştirilmiş Ben’den Ev’vel
performansının teorik ve pratik analizi yer almaktadır. Sözü
edilen performansın temel ekseninde yıllardır aile içinde
söylenegelen, kendimizden yaşça büyük aile bireylerine ait
öykülerin, sonraki kuşaklara aktarımında tiyatro ve performansın
bir araç olarak kullanılıp kullanılamayacağı düşüncesi yer
almaktadır. Sahnede seyircinin salona alınıp yerleşmesini
beklerken nostaljik bir dekor içindeki masada oturan dinleyicioyuncu masadaki saati kırk beş dakikaya ayarlayarak performansı
başlatır. Daha önceden bilgilendirilmiş olan seyirciler gönüllülük
esasına göre sahneye çıkıp içinde kendilerinin olmadığı, tamamen
aile büyükleri tarafından kendilerine anlatılan kökenlerine ait aile
öykülerinden birini sahnede onu dinlemekte olan ve performans
boyunca hiç konuşmayan dinleyici-oyuncuya anlatır. Bu anlatımı
aynı zamanda salondaki seyirciler de eş zamanlı olarak
izlemektedir. Bu performans denemesi, varoluşu gereği gündelik
gerçeklik ve kurmaca arasındaki bir eşikte yer alan tiyatrallik,
seyir, rol, performans kavramlarının farklı kullanımları aracılığıyla
sorgulandığı bir sahnelemedir. Sahne üzerinde, gündelik gerçeklik
ve kurmaca arasındaki sınırın bir anlamda kendisine gönderme
yapılarak netleştirildiği, öte yandan anlatıcının performansının
geçmiş ve bellek aracılığıyla temsili bir nitelik kazanması ile bu
sınırın yeniden bulanıklaştığı, geçişken bir deneyim alanı oluşması
amaçlanır. “Nesilden nesile kültür aktarımı” üzerinden de
biçimlenen bu çalışmada, tiyatro ve performans sanatının bir
arada yer aldığı disiplinlerarası bir çalışmayı hedeflenmiştir.

This study includes the theoretical and practical analysis of the
Ben’den Ev’vel (Before I) performance, which was inspired by
theater director and theorist Jerzy Grotowski's article “Tu es le
fils de quelqu” (You Are Someone’s Son) and performed on
various stages in Ankara during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018
theater seasons. The main axis of the performance in question is
the idea of whether theater and performance art can be used as a
tool in transferring the stories of older family members, which
have been told in the family for years, to the next generations.
While waiting for the audience to be taken into the hall and
settled in, the listener-actor, sitting at a table in a nostalgic
decoration, starts the performance by setting the clock on the
table to forty-five minutes. The audience, who have been
previously informed, come on stage on a voluntary basis and tell
one of the family stories of their origins, which they do not
include themselves, but are told to them by their family elders, to
the listener-actor who is listening to him on the stage and does
not speak at all throughout the performance. The audience in the
hall also watches this narration simultaneously. This performance
essay is a staging in which the concepts of theatricality, spectacle,
role and performance, which exist at the threshold between
everyday reality and fiction, are questioned through different
uses. The aim is to create a transitional field of experience on the
stage, where the boundary between daily reality and fiction is
clarified by referring to itself in a sense, and on the other hand,
this boundary becomes blurred again as the narrator's
performance gains a representative quality through the past and
memory. In this study, which is also shaped by the "transmission
of culture from generation to generation", an interdisciplinary
study is aimed, which includes theater and performance art
together.
